1. Visit www.gigglepoetry.com and discover what is an acrostic poem and view examples of acrostic poems.
2. Visit http://www.readwritethink.org/files/resources/interactives/acrostic/ review what is an acrostic poem, choose and enter a topic word for your poem, and brainstorm a list of words that remind you of your topic. Remember some of them might start with your topic word.
3. Use the words you brainstormed to help you write your acrostic poem.
4. Print your poem and a copy of the Acrostic Poetry Reflection Checklist (found under the evaluation tab).
5. Find a classmate to share your poem with and ask yourselves does my poem make sense and does each line relate to the autumn word chosen? After going through your checklist, reflect on your poem, and discuss if any changes should be made. If so, make the changes to your poem, before typing your final draft.
6. Open Microsoft Word and type your poem.
7. Use google images to search for clip art or pictures that illustrate your poem. Add these images to your poem.
